Amazing start of OPUS’ cactus pear fruit season 2026
Our prickly pear fruit season has officially started, and as a proud first: OPUS Cactus has made its first deliveries of fresh Opuntia (prickly pear / cactus pear) fruit from our Waterkloof farm late last week to South African markets.
After months of preparation, harvesting, sorting, and logistics, our first deliveries are underway. For us, this is actionable proof, demonstrates how Opuntia can generate immediate food value while we continue building long-term pathways for sustainable biomass, energy, and biorefinery products.
What we are excited about this season:
- Delivering a high-quality, locally grown fruit to market
- Demonstrating a regenerative crop suited to semi-arid regions
- Creating near-term revenue streams that strengthen the full Opuntia value chain
- A scalable crop that complements our broader biorefinery pathway
Well done to everyone involved—from the field teams to packing and distribution. This is a strong start, and we look forward to expanding supply as the season progresses.
